Individual Trail

South Island / Port Renfrew

80 min driving from Downtown Victoria

This family friendly trail is 2 km long and takes 1 hour to hike round-trip. It is only part of the Juan de Fuca trail which runs along the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island. The trail is well maintained with plenty of markers to guide hikers to Mystic Beach.

Hikers will pass through forested area with beautiful aged trees and pass across a suspension bridge that spans over McIvar Creek. Once at Mystic Beach there will be small caves towards the western side that are explorable as long as there is a low tide. Towards the eastern side there is a swing that has been set up over the water as well as a small waterfall to check out.

If hikers are planning to camp, be sure to set up the tent far enough away from the water line. There are tidal charts posted at the entrance to the beach to be sure. Food catches and public washrooms (no plumbing) will also be available.

GPS Notes
Most often when viewing our maps, trails marked in Green or Blue have been human-verified by our volunteers. A route in purple indicates an overgrown trail or a bushwhack. Otherwise, the tracks may have been satellite traced or imported from third party sources. While we strongly believe our GPS are accurate, please be aware that no logging system is perfect and to be aware of potential errors.
