Individual Trail

Courtenay-Alberni / Port Alberni

5 min driving from Port Alberni, BC

This spectacular hike is located on private land. It ascends through the forest to a lookout with a gorgeous panorama of the Alberni Inlet and the City of Port Alberni across to Mount Arrowsmith. The elevation will vary along the trail and there are steep hills along the way.

Begins your hike at Ship Creek Road. Approximately 2 kilometres in, the trail merges up with a logging road, then swings west towards the Alberni Inlet. It’s about half a kilometre to the next signpost, where you can choose your route of descent towards the Inlet: follow the less strenuous trail along Follinsbee Creek, or go north towards The Lookout from Copper Mountain where you can appreciate the view of coastal bluffs and Alberni Inlet. Keep moving south along the water. As you go on, the trail will begin to veer east away from the water and present views across China Creek Dryland Sort and China Creek Marina. You will come to a gated logging road which you will cross over and continue through the forest over China Creek.

Your hike will end at a private industrial road. Take caution as you may run into industrial traffic.

GPS Notes
Most often when viewing our maps, trails marked in Green or Blue have been human-verified by our volunteers. A route in purple indicates an overgrown trail or a bushwhack. Otherwise, the tracks may have been satellite traced or imported from third party sources. While we strongly believe our GPS are accurate, please be aware that no logging system is perfect and to be aware of potential errors.
