Sunshine Coast / Saltery Bay

The Powell River region is home to many beautiful adventures. The Sunshine Coast Trail is one such adventure. You will encounter stellar views, pristine lakes and wilderness, and hiking that just can’t be beaten.

This trail is entirely the journey can be up to 180 km from start to finish. It boasts varying difficulty levels from comfortable spots to more challenging areas as well. Experienced hikers should have no problem completing this hike, but if it is your first time it is highly recommended that you get maps and any information you can from the Visitor Information Centre at 4690 Marine Avenue in Powell River. You can also call them at (604) 485-4701 or their toll-free number at 1-877-817-8669.

This incredible journey starts at the Ocean and will take you into the Alpine meadows and lakes of the region. There is plenty of spots to rest some of which include campsites, cabins, and access to Bed and Breakfasts along the trail. To make the complete path, it will take you approximately ten days so make sure to pack all survival necessities. There is also ample opportunity to make smaller trips of it. There are many access points to the trail so one can do a day trip or a couple of overnight trips if so desired. There Is also a section that is wheelchair accessible which is fantastic news. It is a one of a kind experience!
